APPRENTICES’ SCULLING WEEKEND, HENLEY-ON-THAMES
16th – 18th September 2022
All our apprentices are invited to attend this year’s Sculling Weekend in Henley.
Whether or not you’ve rowed before this wonderful opportunity will allow you to gain sculling knowledge and experience with knowledgeable coaches on hand to guide you.
The weekend is aimed at all levels, and we would appreciate our more experienced apprentices attending to assist and share their knowledge with our novice rowers. This fun, social weekend will allow you to learn, improve and race, whatever experience of rowing you have. It also gives you the opportunity to meet other apprentices and Freemen of the Company.
The weekend’s programme includes an introduction to rowing, coaching sessions for all levels, building confidence on the river, along with intro the sculls; parts, maintenance etc.
Our rowing weekends, provide a unique opportunity for you to also learn from first-class coaches using superb equipment and facilities. It is important that you learn to scull correctly, particularly if you consider entering the Doggett’s Coat and Badge Wager at the end of your Apprenticeship.
There will be a Friday evening curry supper aboard a Salter’s Steamer and a dinner at Leander Club on Saturday. Lunch will be available during the break on Saturday. Dress code for the curry supper is smart casual and for Saturday night dinner is jacket and tie/smart attire.
This weekend is significantly subsidised by the Company’s charity for apprentices and allows us to offer the cost per person at £195 which includes:
Bed and breakfast at Henley Business School on the Friday and Saturday nights
Lunch on Saturday
Friday night Curry & Cruise abroad a Salters Steamer
Formal dinner at Leander Club on Saturday evening
All rowing equipment and coaching
(Accommodation and the number of boats available are limited, bookings will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis)
