We are pleased to welcome Hannah Stockton, Curator of Maritime London and the Merchant Marine at Royal Museums Greenwich, who will host our next lecture on 18 May 2026.

Hannah’s talk will explore how, up to the eighteenth century, Thames watermen had a reputation for bad language, crime, and scandalous behaviour. It will consider how this reputation evolved over time, how it was shaped and reflected in the popular culture of the day, and the extent to which it was based in the realities of watermen’s work and lives.

Doors will open at 18:15hrs and refreshments served before the talk at 18:30hrs.

Tickets priced at £15 per person
