PRESS RELEASE V 11 June 2020 The Company of Watermen and Lightermen and the Thames Skills Academy are working together to support employers’ apprentices and trainees training during the Covid-19 crisis. With this in mind, they are calling on companies to let them know what training support and help they need for apprentices and trainees.
For the first time in the Company’s history, a virtual Court of Bindings was held this morning and three new apprentices were welcomed into the Company. A presentation of the indentures ceremony will be held at the Hall when possible. May we wish you all good luck in your careers on the River Thames. Company
The Company has a library of around 1000 books, maps and archive items, ranging from readily-available current and recent publications to 500-year-old handwritten records and archives. The library is not open for browsing or lending books, but Freemen of the Company and accredited researchers can search the library index to identify books or archives they

The Master formally opened the refurbished Freemen’s Room after the Court Meeting on the 2nd October. The Company asked Court Assistant Annamarie Phelps to lead a small team to refurbish the Freemen’s Room. There is new carpet and curtains, the lighting has been updated and the room has been redecorated. The lighting in the Cabinets
