The Company of
Watermen & Lightermen
of the River Thames

Annual Dinner

The Company’s Annual Dinner was held at Fishmonger’s Hall on the 19th February. The Master, Dr Iain Reid had asked Sir Peter Bazalgette, the great, great, grandson of the famous Victorian engineer, Sir Joseph Bazalette as his guest and principle speaker. The event was a sell out with many Freemen bring their ladies to the event for the first time.

The Master welcomed all Freemen and their guests and offered a short ‘state of the Company’ address before welcoming and introducing  Sir Peter Bazalgette.
Junior Warden Alderman Sir David Wootton welcomed the Company guests and concluded by asking all Freemen to stand and toast ‘Our Guests’

After an excellent five course dinner the Master invited all those present to join him for a stirrup cup in the Court Drawing Room.
